"Heaven Can Wait": Shoe Heaven in Harrods

"Reemmmm!...Have you seen the new shoe department in Harrods?" asked my super excited and dear friend Rula.

We both had arrived in London and she was one up on me since I had no idea that Harrods had "Shoe Heaven " on their minds.

You see when in town at the same time, we always meet in Harrods: shoe dept with Rula and book dept with her brother Omar....what can I say? Harrods is our second home even though someone has rearranged the furniture and taken away our room !

Ok so...we all know that there is a " Stairway to Heaven" and that is what you have to take ( escalator counts...) up to the 5th floor in order to get to Shoe-Nirvana. It is very sophisticated and by far chicer than their previous location.
It is touted as the "Worlds largest shoe department"...wait till Saks 5th. Avenue gets wind of this and goes even larger....just saying.
It consists of a labyrinthine collection of mini boutiques: 17 to be precise with Manolo Blahnik in the eagles nest commanding windows and open vistas.
There is also the "Silver Lining Collection": limited edition creations by the worlds top designers.

"What did you think of it? " I asked Rula when we finally got together for dinner.
" I hated it" was her reply.
" I had a hard time wandering around just trying to find my bearings" I said. " I actually got a headache in the process" (too much to look at with your head swinging from left to ring like a pendulum gone wild).
"Me too!" she exclaimed.

Of course we will all be back, we are suckers for punishment after all but....our collective hearts belong to the "Selfridges shoe dept": although not the chicest, it is far more trendier and more inviting with a divers collection of shoes that covers almost every price range.
I believe that there lies my true shoe heaven.

Falling in Love with the Fall Collection 2014

It may be summer outside, but in my heart it's....
Fall!

Just got back from my London trip and I wanted no more to do with sandals, shorts or sunburn....
Fall is in the air in London and as the leaves turn crisp and brown, our attention is drawn immediately to what the designers and the highstreet has in store for us this fall....and it is very exciting!

First of all, let me draw your attention to the new Chanel ad campaign with Kristen Stewart starring in :
"The Best Little Whorehouse on the Prairie"...
(sorry,I couldn't help myself...it had to be said....)

Last fall it was "Paris-Edimbourg"...this fall : it is Laura Ingalls petticoats and bucking broncos....
What must "Choupette" think of all of this? Hmmmm???

When I saw the Chanel handbags with the Star spangled banner...I had to turn my nose up and away to focus on the more classical styles...if you are going to pay that kind of money, you got to make it last.

Moving on to Giorgio Armani:

I have never had much to say about any Armani collection...it always left me thinking:
"blahhhh....Mehhhh and pffff"

But this fall it is :
" Hey!!...how about that and  Wow!!! I am loving this..."

See if you share my emotions:

Gone is the run of the mill approach that we have seen time and again with Giorgio Armani....this is a rather Jil Sander-esque version of some fun and beautifully tailored clothes with an injection of colour that sets it all off...that green is seriously sexy.

And talking of an injection of colour:
BURBERRY....is in BLOOM,my friends!

You "hear" the colours before you "see" them.....

This is a "Stand up and be Noticed" collection.....Christopher Bailey is simply going from strength to strength without ever having to stop for a dramatic pause...and why stop?
He is on a roll.
